New “Pro Cheer League”: Major Updates Revealed

In case you missed it: We covered the initial announcement of the Pro Cheer League in a past newsletter – catch up here.

📰 The news: Varsity has officially revealed the Pro Cheer League (PCL), the first professional cheerleading league for athletes aged 18 and older. Debuting in January 2026, the PCL will launch in four cities: Atlanta, Dallas, Miami, and San Diego. Each 30-athlete team will be led by notable team managers – see more here.

🌟 Why it matters: The PCL offers athletes a professional path to extend their careers beyond traditional cheer. Participants will receive training, part-time compensation, travel and lodging, uniforms, bonuses, and prize incentives.

📅 What’s next: Tryouts begin in September, with training starting in November. Varsity plans to announce partnerships and a media deal soon and has goals to expand globally.
